A canadian citizen and a permanent resident can sponsor his/her spouse, common-law or conjugal partner ,dependant child or an eligible family member to immigrate to Canada to become a permanent resident.
Also, citizens and residents of Canada can sponsor their parents or grandparents.
A sponsor and a sponsored person need to meet certain requirements to apply.
Applicants will be required to go through criminal and medical check in order to qualify. Sponsors must promise to financially support sponsoring family members.
A sponsor can use one of the available two options: an "In Canada" or an "Overseas " sponsorship applications depending of his/her situation.
